Founder and CEO, Kelly Drewett

Kaydee Web founder, Kelly Drewett, is an expert in technical optimisation and content-led website design. At Kaydee Web, these skills are seamlessly combined to create active and effective websites.

Web design, content creation and brand awareness work cohesively to build a competitive online presence and a website that truly reflects your brand.

Kelly’s optimisation discovery began in 2010 as she was building websites and wondering why some ranked better than others. She realised it was simple; websites that had love and passion poured into them were the ones coming out on top, as well as those that were clear, simple, and told visitors what they wanted to know. This was the beginning of the Kaydee Web ethos.

Depth of Web Knowledge

Kelly’s depth of knowledge in web design and optimisation comes across as soon as you speak with her. She understands that a successful website goes far beyond layout; it is the combination of user experience, creativity and simplicity that makes a website work. With this understanding, she mentors and guides the team to assist your business on the digital stage.

Alongside creativity and technical expertise, Kaydee Web incorporate clear systems, processes, and communication. Each project begins with a defined scope of work, realistic timelines, and agreed expectations, ensuring clients understand what is included and how their project will progress.

Strong project management and internal systems support consistency, accountability, and collaboration, allowing Kaydee Web to deliver high-quality work with efficiency, transparency and care.

Assisting your business on the digital stage.

Kelly Drewett: Background

Kelly is originally from a beautiful village in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds called Shipton-under-Wychwood, but, as one of the original digital nomads, she spent a lot of time travelling in her younger days and now resides in the French Alps.

Kelly Drewett sits reading a classic book, proving she is a life-long learner

Her worldly background and current roots in Europe help Kelly connect with a wide range of people and cultures, which aids in navigating the world of networking and facilitates Kaydee Web’s ability to work with international clients.

Kelly has lived in France since 2013 and has a basic understanding of French, particularly in writing, which helps with translation and communication. We’ve worked with many European clients.

Our founder is always eager to attend expos and conferences in Europe, particularly those centred around the technology and entertainment industries. She is habitually on the lookout for the next big thing and loves seeing exciting new technologies as they launch.

We’ll meet you where you are.

The Beginning of a Web Design Journey

Back when the internet first became accessible, Kelly was 16 and had dropped out of school after three months of sixth form (12th grade) due to an independent attitude that, it turns out, would serve her well in the future.

Kelly intended to return to education the following year, but instead found a job in digital illustration. At 17, Kelly heard of a couple who had started a small web design firm in the village. Her mum had never heard of a website at the time, but Kelly was always a little bit ahead of the game.

The couple offered to train Kelly in web design in return for work and a little pay. With a fascination with the emergent digital world and a keen interest in computers and design, she snapped up the offer and loved it. In no time, she took the position of lead web designer, prescient of the career she would go on to build.

Innovative thinking and a willingness to embrace new technologies continue to shape Kelly’s work today. In the same way she learned web design when few people understood its potential, she now incorporates AI and generative tools into Kaydee Web’s creative and technical processes, using them to speed up research, support design thinking, and deliver more effective digital solutions for clients.

Kaydee Web’s Origin Story

In 2000, just before her 20th birthday and with the support of her first client and a computer borrowed from her mum, Kelly launched Kaydee Web Design, now known as Kaydee Web.

Like anyone starting a business, Kelly had both challenges and successes, learning a great deal about small businesses and entrepreneurship along the way.

Over the next 12 years, Kelly established a reputation across Oxfordshire as a trusted local web design business, built on relationships, quality, and care and opened an office in the centre of Witney.

Working without Borders

Around the time Wi-Fi became readily available everywhere, Kelly was at a point in life with no ties, and realised she could travel while working, so that is exactly what she did.

Canada and North America
Kelly’s travels began with a visit to her sister in Canada; from there, she travelled across a large portion of North America in a Buick named Hank.

With a base in Canada, she continued travelling around the US, working day to day on her computer in motels.

When Hank’s travelling days sadly came to an end, Kelly switched to buses and sofa-surfing, returning to British Columbia each winter to work the ski season.

Campervan Life

After exhausting her visitor’s visa, it was time to return home to Oxford…briefly.

The wanderlust continued, and Lynn, a New Zealand friend Kelly met in Canada, joined her for a summer campervan trip through western Europe. They travelled for five months in Ellis, Kelly’s high-top VW van (who is still around to this day). Naming vehicles seems to be a ritual.

It was a fantastic summer visiting different countries, during which Kelly discovered a deeper interest in other cultures and their people.

Europe and Asia

The following winter, Kelly drove to Les Arcs in the French Alps to find somewhere to spend the season – somewhere with snow, of course.
There, she met her husband, Ben, who, coincidentally, is a web programmer and consultant. As they could both work remotely, they were able to continue travelling together.
That first summer, they explored France, Italy and Croatia, using Ellis the campervan as both home and office, always returning to the French Alps.

After a period of rest and recovery, Kelly and Ben travelled through Southeast Asia with their home offices literally strapped to them in backpacks.

That winter, they settled near the mountains in Hakuba Goryu, Japan, where they could snowboard and ski, and rented a maisonette, using the extra bedroom as an office.

Mountain Maison

Travelling while working is wonderful and such a privilege, though it takes dedication. For now, Ben and Kelly have paused long trips and enjoy a strong work-life balance in the French Alps.

They have created office spaces where they can focus on their individual businesses, train online, and generally geek out.

This is where Kelly now spends much of her time, developing the business, managing projects, expanding her skills to move with the ever-evolving digital world, and mentoring team Kaydee Web.
When she isn’t working, Kelly can often be found in the mountains, snowboarding or hiking, which tends to make Kaydee Web’s Instagram content more interesting!

Some of Kelly’s other hobbies include camping; she refuses to give up her old campervan, Ellis, even though he is now an antique – some might say a classic. She continues to work on the van and uses her husband’s (and her own) affinity for Formula 1 race tracks to convince him to join her on her European jaunts. She visits the south of France as much as possible, as she loves the coast just as much as the mountains.

Kelly also loves yoga, painting, reading, cooking, and exploring world cuisines. Her friends, family, and colleagues are incredibly important to her. Most recently, she has taken up relearning the piano. We’re not quite sure where she finds the time, either.
